What do you do here at Wells and how long have you been here?
I am a personal lines account executive. I focus on homeowners insurance, auto insurance and all the personalized types of policies.
How did you get started?
I came to Wells Insurance in 2009 after my children went to pre-K cause I was a stay at home Mom for five years. I was with the Wells for about 5 years and then went to work for Wells Fargo as a home mortgage banker, and then I came back and have officially been a wells insurance employee for almost 7 years now.
Why Wells? What do you like most about working here?
I like working at Wells Insurance because there is a lot of freedom here. There is a lot of camaraderie. It feeling like a family is my #1 favorite thing about being here, and I enjoy all of my fellow employees. We all have a great time together.
What do you like most about your specific job here at Wells?
I enjoy my specific job here at Wells Insurance because I have a lot of freedom. I kind of make my own schedule, but it is very busy. I enjoy that and all of the people that I work with, the events that we do here, the corporate cup, that stuff is just super fun.
What's the best lesson you've learned throughout your career?
I would say the best lesson learned doing this type of business is always be upfront, be honest, and tell people what insurance looks like from the front end and the back end.
What's the most memorable moment of your career?
My most memorable moment in insurance so far has been working through Hurricane Florence. It lasted quite a while, but we made it to the other end. It was very intense, but I did learn a lot about the insurance industry on the claims side of things and how it works from the beginning to the end.
I probably can't say that either....OK, my favorite TV show is Shitts Creek, my favorite TV show is Shitts Creek.
Every time this is on TV, I'll tend to watch it...my favorite movie is Hope Floats. A little odd, but for whatever reason I just watch it and it makes me cry every time.
Favorite Book?
This is like gonna go way back...”Are you there? God, it's me, Margaret.”
My favorite band is Jane's addiction. Did you think I was going to say something else, like Country or something? LOL They are showmen and I love it.
What's your favorite non-profit/volunteer organization?
This summer I plan to work with sea turtle nonprofit, finding nests protecting the nests, helping the hatchlings get to the water without any incident.
The top of my bucket list item is to get in the cage with the great white sharks. I told Kaitlyn that if she did that with me, I would take her to Greece. I mean, I'll probably be like 90 years old when it happens, but it's OK. I'll be ready to go by then anyways.
How do you define success?
I think success is having a strong family unit because I just have my girls. I want to raise strong, independent women. That’s success to me. I'm going to cry, because they're graduating, but they are strong and independent...It pisses me off sometimes, but they are.
What do you like to do when you're not working?
When I'm not working, I enjoy hanging out with my family. We do a lot of surfing together. I recently picked up pickle-ball so my husband and I have been playing pickle-ball. We also have a lot of family who come from out of town, so we spend a lot of our time on the beach.
What's the best advice you've been given?
My granddad always used to tell me if you have a dollar, don't spend the dollar. I feel like he'd always get mad because he'd be like, “Your mom’s got a dollar. She spends a dollar. So if you got a dollar, don't spend it!” He was the best.
