What do you do here at Wells?
My name is Brad Mickle and I am in the downtown office and I am a commercial lines account executive. I talk to clients and I look to help them out with their insurance needs.

What's your background?
I'm born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. Went to New Hanover High School and then I graduated from NC State. Graduated from NC State University and I was business administration with a concentration in finance. I stayed in Raleigh for three years and I worked at a call center.

How did you get started at Wells?
So growing up in Wilmington I've heard a lot of good things about Wells and I was ready to move back from Raleigh so I thought this would be a great fit and what I like most about it so far just the team aspect. I feel like everybody works together here. Some good team building activities.

What's the best lesson you've learned throughout your career?
Work as hard as you can and stay hungry. Simple as that.

What's the biggest challenge you've had in your career?
Biggest challenge is coming from a sales center to doing outside sales. Making cold calls. It's a bit of an adjustment but I've been looking forward to it.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Graduating college was a big one in four years and then when I got out and getting a job kind of right away so that was probably my biggest accomplishment so far.

What's the first job you ever had?
It was here in Wilmington. I worked at...??? I was driving forklifts, moving boxes, and chemicals and it was an interesting experience. I was 16...Yeah, they don't do that anymore.

If you could do anything for work, what would you do?
If I could do anything for a living I would be a professional golfer. That's the dream job. Playing golf for a living and most of them make a lot of money.

What do you like to do when you're not working?
Golf. I love... that's probably my favorite activity is golf and then also probably enjoying some cold beverages on the boat.

What’s volunteer activity/non-profit do you like to work with/support and why?
First Tee. That's a non-profit that I have worked with a lot. In high school I worked with them pretty much the whole time I was there. So now that I'm back in Wilmington I'll get back into that. So First Tee, they basically help out all the kids in the area and they teach them the ways of golf kind of give them lessons and they have people come out and volunteer to help with that. So people that are passionate about golf they'll... something they enjoy. They're teaching golf also teaching them life lessons.

What's on your bucket list?
There's a lot of things on my bucket list but I would say top of it is probably going to Scotland with my family and go have a little golf trip.

What's your biggest strength?
My biggest strength I would say I'm a pretty good listener. I can listen and take in information pretty well.

What's your biggest weakness?
My greatest weakness is distraction.

What's your secret superpower nobody knows about?
Now I don't have any superpowers but if I could choose one it'd be to fly.

Favorite Book?
I've read a LeBron James book a long time ago. That was my favorite. That's what I did all my school projects on.

Favorite Podcast?
My favorite podcast is Pardon My Take. It's a bar stool sports thing. They just kind of chat about football and what's going on in the sports world. Cool. And it's pretty funny.

My Favorite TV Show?
Favorite TV series Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad and then close second is Dexter.

Favorite Movie?
My favorite movie is The Longest Yard. Adam Sandler, one of my favorite actors.

Favorite Band?
Favorite band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

How do you define success?
Well the obvious answer for success is money, and I do think that that's a big thing. But I think the biggest thing is happiness. So being successful you can make as much money as you want but if you're not happy was it that worth it? So I think happiness is key.

What's the best advice you've been given?
The best advice is from Michael Jordan. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
